Paris Digest's
sightseeing selection
|
| Sightseeing is an endless pleasure in
Paris, one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Above all, we
recommend you to walk through Paris: short distances, density and
variety of points of interest, beauty of the urban scenery (look at the
Seine river banks on the right picture), you will like Paris.
We suggest the Champs-Elysées,
the left
banks of the Seine river (right on the picture), a walk through Montmartre
(below on the picture), or from the Louvre
to the
Concorde square through the Tuileries
garden.

The market
streets (below, the rue Mouffetard) are ideal for a short walk through
the typical districts of Paris.
The Cité
island with Notre-Dame
as starting point also provides plenty of walk opportunities: to the Luxembourg
garden through the Quartier Latin student district, to the Hotel
de Ville (city hall) and the Pompidou
center on the left bank, to the Place
des Vosges through Saint-Louis
island.

The "Bateaux-mouche",
these typically Parisian river boats, are a good alternative with their
nice cruises on the Seine river through the heart of historic Paris.
They provide another view on the city and are indeed less tiring than
walking!.
You can also discover Paris by bus with Cityrama at http://www.cityrama.com
or ParisVision at http://www.parisvision.com.
They have many interesting tours through Paris. Another good and relaxing
way to discover Paris.

If you are looking for a book on
Paris, we recommend you to buy
"Above Paris" by Robert Cameron and Pierre
Salinger, a hardcover (on the left) with low-lever aerial
full-color photographs ($23.60).
